01-31-2004: Ya know, The Register is one of my personal favorites online.

And hats off to them again, with their recent report on the British census, and how many Jedi knights Britain could count on in case of a death star attack. According to the story, approximately 390,000 Jedis are residing in Great Britain. Huzzah!

01-27-2004: We haven't been very good at publishing to Stinkweasel in the last two weeks, so we'd like to appologize to our three readers. We're working on some anti-spam research stuff in the background, and that's sucked up all of our time.

Moving along... Ames got a nice little snowstorm yesterday, probably six inches or so. That's not a lot, but with the stunning street department we have, it's enough to make us look like New York City after an eighteen incher.

You see, the street department here doesn't plow the streets while it's snowing, nor do they plow it when it's done snowing. For some godawful reason, they seem to wait at least 12 hours and then try to plow. You know, after 12 hours worth of traffic has packed it down into that nice, hard, icy stuff.

Or, even better - sometimes they don't even plow. They just spread sand on top of the snow. WTF? If anyone out there has a contact inside the Ames street department, I'd love to know why they refuse to get the trucks out when they'd actually do any good. 01-12-2004: So, there I was, looking for today's asshat, and I ran across a pretty good topic on Overlawyered.

Check it out - a lot of others that were involved in the Citibank class action suit. Most of them sound about as thrilled as I was to receive such a windfall on their settlements.

Oh, and my settlement makes up 5.1% of the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel I'm going to get at McDonald's this morning. Rock on!
